Watersmeet Winter Ginko
On Friday 17th July, Hobart experienced a break in the weather – no rain expected until late in the day – perfect for our winter ginko. As a change from our usual venues we headed out to the historic town of Richmond, meeting up by the river near the national heritage bridge. The morning was crisp and clear, winter sunlight playing on the river. Ducks of various colours, rails and coots, along with the odd cormorant and one exceptional black swan, splashed, paddled and dabbled in the water, patrolled the grassy banks and fought over bread thrown to them by children. Haiku Performance and Ginko at the Sydney Cherry Blossom Festival – Thursday 23rd August
A haiku event will take place at the Sydney Cherry Blossom Festival, Auburn on Thursday 23rd August, 10:00 – 11:00am. The event will include a haiku reading by a group of haiku poets and a ginko led by AHS President, Vanessa Proctor.
Persimmon
This book is a delight, square in shape and persimmon-coloured, it is beautifully produced with deep green flyleaf covers and plenty of space around the text giving the haiku the room it deserves. The artwork of persimmons on the front cover by Eiko Mori and Richard Steiner’s artwork on the back is appealing and gives the reader the impression that a great deal of thought has gone into this book’s creation. Illawong Haiku Group Winter Ginko July 2018
Illawong Haiku Group commenced our second year together with a Winter ginko on Tuesday 31st July. This is our first meeting report on the AHS website.
We decided due to the unpredictable weather to hold an indoor meeting. The venue was Hazelhurst Arts Centre at Gymea where an exhibition charting the career of Marion Hall Best, one of Australia’s first and most influential independent interior designers is currently featuring. Windfall: Australian Haiku
Windfall: Australian Haiku issue 7, 2018 closed for submissions at midnight on 31st July 2018, in accordance with terms of entry and the notices published on the AHS web-site throughout the month.
A record number of entries was received and the publisher and the editor would like to thank Australian haiku poets for their interest and support. It is envisaged that all who submitted will receive notification of acceptance or non-acceptance within the next four weeks.
