Calling haiku poets all over the world to participate in the 10th annual running of the AFL Grand Final Haiku Kukai.
You are all cordially (and otherwise) invited to attend this year’s AFL Grand Final Kukai – just about the only thing this year that has not been cancelled, postponed, restricted, quarantined or protested against.
The kukai, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year, is the annual ‘Haiku Call of the Game’, with haiku poets and non-haiku poets alike, writing haiku in real-time while watching the Grand Final.
For the second year in a row, the game will be played in a foreign land – this time, Perth. Thanks again to Covid, most of us will be watching on from our isolation hubs. But don’t use this as an excuse to be alone. Wherever you are, whatever you’re doing, whoever you barrack for, send us some haiku of your experience of watching the game.
As in previous years, this is predominantly a Facebook event – you can join here – but if you don’t have FB and are interested in getting involved, please feel free to write some haiku in the comments section below. They will be read I can assure you.
The game kicks off on Saturday 25th September, 7.15 pm Melbourne time, but you can contribute poems anytime in the lead up to the game, as well as in the post-match hubbub.
So get involved! This is the most unique way of experiencing the grand final.
See you at the game!
– Rob Scott.
Dear all,
I see that my submission is dated 1 October. I entered it on 30 September. Probably due to time differences it arrived on 1 October.
I hope that it is still a valid submission.
Kind regards

Rose, these are great. And from a local! Can post them on the Facebook site, or could you post it yourself?
