Entries open for the UHTS 2023 Samurai Haibun Contest

During September you are invited to submit your haibun to The United Haiku and Tanka Society (UHTS) 2023 Samurai Haibun Contest. This is a yearly contest celebrating the Autumn Festival traditional procession of Samurai at the Nikko Toshogu shrine every 17th October. Deadline: submissions open from 1 September to 30 September 2023 only.

Eligibility: FREE to all age groups worldwide.

Guidelines: entries must be original work of the author, unpublished, never posted publicly anywhere, and not under consideration elsewhere. This contest is un-themed. Entries that do not follow the guidelines will not be considered, so please refer to the UHTS webpage for the full details when preparing your submission.

Submissions: send up to 3 entries (haibun only, no tanka prose) with subject heading (Samurai Haibun). Type each individual haibun in the body of your email; no attachments, please. Include your name, country and email contact. Send to Contest Coordinator Marilyn Humbert at mhumbert1953@gmail.com

Blind Adjudication: Elaine and Neal Whitman, USA.

Awards: Printable certificates will be emailed to winners for 1st, 2nd, 3rd Place, and one HM.
