The autumn meeting of the Red Dragonflies was held on Saturday 7th March at our convener Vanessa Proctor’s home in Pymble, from 11.30 am to 2.30 pm. Our small group: Dawn Bruce, Cynthia Rowe, Willem Tibben and myself was even smaller this meeting because transport problems meant our sixth member, Beverley George, was unable to come. She was much missed.
On Saturday 7th December, 2019, the Red Dragonflies met at the NSW Art Gallery Café for coffee, a workshop and lunch.
The plan was to then proceed to the Botanic Gardens for a ginko but the smoke haze covering Sydney prevented this, so we remained at the Gallery.
Ten of us were in attendance, Vanessa Proctor hosted and welcomed Barbara Fisher, Dawn Bruce, Leanne Mumford, Willem Tibben, Beverley George, Laurel Astle, Garry Glover, Carol Reynolds and Margaret Mahony.
A small group of the Red Dragonflies met on Saturday 7th September: Vanessa Proctor, Barbara Fisher and Beverley George and newbie me, Wanda Amos down from Old Bar. In the leafy suburb of Pymble, Vanessa’s house was the meeting place and the trees swirled around us on that not so warm Spring day.
The winter meeting of the Red Dragonflies was held on Saturday 1st June at Barbara Fisher’s home in Mosman. With a background of wonderful paintings on the walls, many of them created by our hostess, Vanessa Proctor led members Dawn Bruce, Bill Tibben, Cynthia Rowe and Barbara in a productive afternoon. Beverley George sent her apologies.
Our first meeting this year was hosted by Cynthia Rowe on Saturday 2nd March. Others present were Barbara Fisher, Dawn Bruce, Vanessa Proctor and Willem Tibben.
Vanessa had forwarded the exercises beforehand so everyone came well armed with work.
The most testing exercise was to write a haiku about writing poetry (a subject dear to all poets) and for another we had to choose a favorite haiku and then say why we liked it.
The summer meeting of the Red Dragonflies was held on Saturday, 1st December, at Beverley George’s home at Pearl Beach, that lovely part of the central coast, north of Sydney. Vanessa Proctor, convenor of the group (and setter of challenging haiku topics), kindly took members Dawn Bruce and Barbara Fisher in her car – it’s a longish drive to get there so we got off to a later start than usual at about 12 noon.
