Paperbark Spring Ginko, Kings Park (Karrgatup)

Paperbark Haiku

27 October, 2023, Perth (Boorloo)

A great turn out for a perfect spring day in Kings Park, where displays of Western Australian wild flowers were still viable despite a few non-spring-like days of heat in the previous week.

Ten met in the Botanic Café for coffee, and we welcomed two new members, Jake Dennis and Nita Teoh. We celebrated the success of poets since we last met.
* Barry, Gary, Rose, Gail and Maureen were published in under the same moon Fourth Australian Haiku Anthology.
* Rose had a haiku republished on The Haiku Foundation ‘Haiku of the Day’ page.
* Coral was published in Echidna Tracks 12 open theme and also in the 2023 New Zealand Poetry Society Anthology.

Finally, we discussed a haiku of our choice that we each brought along. Participants chose a wide range of poets from the Japanese Masters to modern day writers.

On our return from the ginko we each read the notes we had written and the haiku we had attempted.
