Lilly Sievers is once again collecting haiku for her ongoing column in the Urasenke Sydney quarterly magazine. She would like to express her gratitude to the many Australian Haiku Society members who have contributed to prior columns and would love to continue featuring contemporary haiku.

Lilly is collecting haiku on the following topics:
1. “(My) Mother”
2. “Wind chimes”

The topic “mother” may include haiku that reference mothers who have passed away and who we honour in remembrance, as well as haiku dedicated to mothers who are still with us. Moreover, a mother doesn’t always have to be the biological birth mother, but can include grandmothers, elders or other female role models who we consider to be mother figures. The column will be dedicated to mothers/haiku in honour of mothers and not motherhood or child-rearing itself.

Lilly welcomes haiku that have been previously published elsewhere as well as unpublished poems. However, she would like permission to keep submissions on file for later use to ensure the column’s long-term success. If you do not wish your haiku to be kept on file, please include this information in your email.

Please send your haiku by 5 July 2024 to <harp.fairy.lilly@gmail.com> and don’t hesitate to contact Lilly if you have any questions or concerns.
