Just a few days shy of our official Summer, Carol Reynolds, Ros Pitt, Alison Miller, Pat Meredith and Margaret Mahony met at Oatley RSL. We missed Rita Potente who was unavailable but welcomed new member Kathleen Ann.
Our intention was to gather amidst nature at beautiful Oatley Park but the temperatures soared to the mid-thirties and we had to change plans. Everyone was in good spirits and looking forward to Christmas.
Personal achievements from the last time we met were shared and some were read out. A handout listing current opportunities for submissions on AHS and other websites was circulated.
During morning tea we each shared and discussed our three haiku on ‘summer colour’. There were discussions on the traditional 5/7/5 versus the more modern shorter version. All believing each had their own merit and it’s up to the individual which is their preference.
After lunch we had the haiku bowl and enjoyed all poems and comments.
