The Haiku Ginko to celebrate autumn was held in Hyde Park, Perth on Wednesday 2nd April. It was a beautiful warm day with a cool breeze, perfect for the morning walk. Ten people attended the session led by Coral Carter and Rose van Son.
Over coffee, Gary de Piazzi discussed writing haiku and the importance of capturing the moment. He stressed that although it is a short poetry form, important things can be expressed through writing haiku. The calm of the lake, the wading birds and the amazing red-gold colours of the Moreton Bay Figs and plane trees were stunning. Also enjoying the park were many mothers with babies and small children. The poets were just one part of the pattern of the park. After a quiet time writing, the group read their haiku and shared their thoughts. We left feeling relaxed after a fabulous Haiku morning.
