Paperbark Group Spring/Kambarang Ginko report

Paperbark Haiku

Eight poets joined the spring ginko on 8th October 2025 in Kings Park, on a lovely sunny although chilly day. At the height of spring the park was laden with flowers. Armed with a description of the two indigenous spring seasons, and the relevance of the colour yellow, we learned we are experiencing the Noongar season of kambarang.

Having settled on seating near the kiosk, the poets meandered round enjoying the sites-sights of glorious plantings set out in regions.

These eight haiku and others were then presented and discussed.

    Hi Alison
I would have liked to have joined this event ( live in Perth) but somehow I didn’t see the notice or invitation anywhere.
Am I looking in the wrong place or do I need to register somewhere else too .
    Would appreciate your advice, thanks

    1. Hi Ken

I am Coral Carter and along with Rose van Son we are the organisers of the ginko. I advertise this event in the weekly WAPoets Inc and the OOTA newsletters. Also at Perth Poetry Club ‘s weekly event. I gave up setting up Facebook event pages a couple of ginko ago as I had no or very little response.

We hold four ginko a year to coincide with the seasons and the summer ginko will be held Wednesday 3 December in Subiaco the details are yet to be finalised.

I am happy to add your name to our mailing list. Please contact me coralacarter@gmail.com
