AHS sincerely apologises for the late posting of this report, which was provided prior to Christmas 2025.
Our final meeting for the year was held on Tuesday, 2nd December, at Carol Reynolds’s home in Bangor. As is often the case in the weeks leading up to Christmas, it is difficult to juggle the many and various events that arise. Ros Pitt, Margaret Mahony, Carol Reynolds and Alison Miller attended, but unfortunately Patricia Meredith, Kathleen Ann and Rita Potente were unable to join us.
We were all delighted when Alison arrived in her Christmas outfit having just attended a performance at a nearby aged care facility with her choir group.
Our activities included readings of Christmas themed haiku from the haiku bowl and an ‘attempt’ at some origami from a children’s Christmas activity book. Perhaps children could work them out but we could not, although we had fun trying.
With so many absent It was decided to postpone the planned exercise on editing until our first meeting in 2026. A handout was circulated to encourage some work to be done in preparation for future discussions.
It was a good opportunity to relax, share stories and enjoy some Christmas fare together. Ros bought a plate of homemade shortbread for morning tea and Margaret a plate of her freshly made white bread sandwiches for lunch, which we always enjoy. Carol used the opportunity to trial a new dessert recipe, which received mixed reviews, although her Dutch Ginger and Almond Slice restored her baking reputation.

That is our final report for 2025. We wish all Aussie haikuists a Safe, Healthy and Happy Christmas and look forward to our continued connection in 2026.
