There was much chuckling, guffawing and general merriment at the first Fringe Myrtles meeting for 2024. The meeting was held on Sunday 17 March at our new home, the beautiful Atheneum Library, Melbourne’s only membership library, which celebrates its 185th birthday this year.

Fringe Myrtles Meeting, March 2023
The latest Fringe Myrtles meeting was held at Alice Wanderer’s wonderfully cosy bayside apartment on the outskirts of Melbourne. Alice prepared a lovely lunch which made the day a special social occasion for the group, as well as another opportunity to talk about haiku.
Fringe Myrtles Haiku Meeting, October 2022
With some fortunate timing given the disastrously wet weather surrounding us, the Fringe Myrtles managed to meet on a cloudy but bright Saturday noon at the Melbourne Botanical Gardens. Joining Michael for our latest meeting were Janet Howie, Liv Saint-James, Alice Wanderer, Marisa Fazio, Madhuri Pillai, Louise Hopewell, Rob Scott and Jayashree Maniyil. Jen Sutherland, who sent apologies for Covid-related matters, sent congratulations to both Madhuri and Liv for their haiku that appeared in the most recent issue of Presence, which were shared with the group.

Fringe Myrtles Haiku Meeting, July 2021
After a brief frolic in the sun, the Fringe Myrtles were back in lockdown courtesy of the wildfire Delta variant that is spreading like….well, wildfire.
In attendance, we had Janet Howie, Robyn Cairns, Liv Saint-James, Louise Hopewell, Marisa Fazio, Rob Scott, Madhuri Pillai, Jennifer Sutherland and Michael Dylan Welch, who squeezed us into his busy schedule from Seattle.
