Report on the Fringe Myrtles Meeting May, 2025

For our most recent meeting, the group held a ginko in the beautiful Treasury Gardens on the fringe of the Melbourne CBD. In attendance were Myron Lysenko, Rodney Williams, Louise Hopewell, Anna Fern, Maurice McNamara, Grant Caldwell, Tom Landgraf and Rob Scott. We also had virtual participation by Diana Cousens and Marisa Fazio.

WA Paperbark celebrates World Haiku Day 17th April 2025

Realising World Haiku Day was suddenly upon us, an event was organised to celebrate. A group of thirteen interested haiku writers gathered at the Maylands Library, Western Australia, and presented three of their favourite haiku and an explanation why the haiku were loved. Discussions followed.

Learning of the passing of a fellow haiku poet always brings sadness, but often there are also happy memories of favourite poems they’ve penned, encouragement they’ve offered or their generous service to the haiku community. So it is for many who knew Cynthia Rowe, as attested by the recently posted tributes.

Not having any personal connection with Cynthia Rowe, I’m very grateful to Vanessa Proctor, Cynthia’s successor as AHS President in 2016, for providing the following tribute to her.
