Haiku Northwest’s 22nd annual Porad Award opens for haiku submissions on July 14.
The contest is named for Francine Porad, founder of Haiku Northwest, former president of the Haiku Society of America, and editor of Brussels Sprout. The annual award is open to all, members and non-member alike.
Adjudicating the 2025 award will be Jacquie Pearce, an award winning Canadian haiku poet and children’s book author. She edited Last Train Home, the Haiku Society of America Merit Book Award winner for Best Anthology in 2022. She is also part of an ongoing project researching and translating haiku written in Japanese Canadian internment camps. The entry fee is $5 for up to five haiku, and the deadline is August 31. See the Haiku Northwest 2025 Porad Award site for more details. We look forward to your submissions.
