White Pebbles, Autumn 2022

March 2022

Despite rain making driving difficult for the majority of members who travel long distances, seven of us and a welcome return visitor met up to greet each other cheerfully at Gosford/Edogawa Commemorative Gardens and Regional Gallery on March 19th. How good it was to be together in person.  Present were Marilyn Humbert, Samantha Hyde, Gwen Bitti, Gail Hennessy, Maire Glacken, Colleen Keating and Beverley George, and guest Michael Thorley. Unfortunately Kent Robinson was unable to join us this time and we very much look forward to seeing him in June.

It was an individual choice whether to ginko in the garden or the gallery and before too long we had clustered at the round table in our quiet meeting room. And here we are.

ILLAWONG AUTUMN MEETING

Tuesday 15th March 2022

In light of the recent rain it was decided to hold our Autumn gathering at my home. Against the odds it turned out to be a beautiful day. Some disappointment was expressed that it would have been a perfect day for a ginko however everyone had an enjoyable time together regardless.

Everyone was present except Patricia who was unable to join us due to ill health however she is on the mend and will hopefully be with us next time. Unfortunately we forgot to take a photo to include with this report, something I must remember to put at the top of our next agenda.

We began our meeting with some members sharing their recently composed haiku for discussion while others shared haiku written by others.

Haiku Down Under

G’day, kia ora and hello,

This is a gentle reminder that submissions for proposals to present at Haiku Down Under close on March 31. Thank you to those who have already completed the confidentialform on our website which asks you to briefly describe your workshop/presentation. We have had some fresh and exciting ideas submitted and look forward to receiving more by the deadline. Please don’t hold back thinking that your idea may not be ‘good enough’.

Haiku Down Under is being held online from October 7-9 and although primarily aimed at the trans-Tasman haiku community, we do expect the event to have an international flavour.
