The Spring Australian Haiku Society Haiga Kukai is now open for entries. We would like to invite poets to send one haiku per image until 29th September. The winning haiku will be displayed on the AHS website.

Please note that if more than one haiku per image is submitted by any individual, only the first haiku sent will be considered.
Submissions will only be accepted if entered in the comments section.

By entering the competition, entrants agree to make their haiku available for use on the AHS website, although the copyright will remain with the author.
No correspondence will be entered into regarding winning entries.

Prior Notification of AHS Spring 2017 Haiga Kukai

The Australian Haiku Society is delighted to announce that it will be holding a Haiga Kukai on the spring equinox 2017. Two images by Ron Moss will be displayed on the AHS website from 22nd September and poets are invited to submit one previously unpublished haiku inspired by each image from that time until 29th September. Report on Bindii Japanese Genre Poetry Group meeting: 5 August 2017

On a very cold, windy day, with the forecast of an approaching storm, we were pleased to welcome seven members for the haibun workshop presented by Maeve Archibald at the Box Factory, 59 Regent St South, Adelaide.

The workshop commenced at 12.30.

Maeve Archibald presented a detailed workshop, starting with an exploration of the varieties of haibun being written and then suggesting various ways of approaching the construction of a haibun. Maeve accompanied this with a succession of stimulus exercises.

AHS Haiku String on Place for the Winter Solstice 2017

Welcome to The Australian Haiku Society Haiku String for  the day of the Southern Hemisphere Winter Solstice, which occurs in Sydney NSW on Wednesday, 21 June 2017 at 2:24 pm AEST.
We will keep the string open for contributions until Friday, 23 June at 2.24 pm AEST to accommodate international poets who may wish to take part.

Report on Bindii Japanese Genre Poetry Group meeting: 3 June 2017

Ten members of the Bindii group attended a tanka workshop led by Dawn Colsey and Lynette Arden at the Box Factory, 59 Regent St South, Adelaide.

Lee Bentley, as chair of the meeting, welcomed the presenters at 12.30.

Some written material had been distributed to members by email prior the meeting and links to further articles are displayed on Bindii Facebook page
