Dear members,
October will be a busy month for haiku happenings in Australia.
- Submissions have opened for the Fourth Australian Haiku Anthology, to be edited by Lyn Reeves, Beverley George and Rob Scott.
- Registrations close on 5th October for Haiku Down Under 2022, which takes place on the weekend of October 7-9.
- Echidna Tracks is calling for submissions for Issue 10 throughout October.
- Entries for the John Bird Dreaming Award 2023 will open shortly, so stay tuned for details.

Welcome to the annual celebration of Australian footy and haiku!
Calling all haiku poets and other vagabonds from every nook and cranny on the planet to participate in the Annual AFL Grand Final Haiku Kukai for 2022. This is the one day of the year when haiku poets, expert and novice, turn their Zen minds to the rip-roaring, white-knuckle, roller-coaster experience of a footy match to produce a live haiku call of the AFL Grand Final. The game kicks off on Saturday 24th September at 2.30pm AEST, but you can share your haiku anytime prior to the game.

Portarlington September Meeting
While the rain is keeping our gardens and surrounding countryside lovely and green, it is playing havoc with our intentions to meet outdoors for our seasonal face to face catch-up. The Portarlington Golf Club became our venue, and just as well. It poured.
