Report on 6th Gadigal Ginko – Winter 2024

A small group gathered in historic Camperdown Cemetery in Newtown, Sydney, on Saturday 13th July: Jane Gibian, Vanessa Proctor, Carol Reynolds, Susan Grant, Zina Ioannou and Leanne Mumford. Surrounded by Camperdown Memorial Rest Park, its tall trees and remnant native grass help make the cemetery a welcome place for quiet recreation in the inner city.

Report on 5th Gadigal Ginko

16th April 2024

The fifth Gadigal Ginko took place on the eve on International Haiku Poetry Day. Nine poets gathered outside the Art Gallery of New South Wales, in front of the new building: Gavin Austin, Gwen Bitti, Subha Goonaratne, Marilyn Humbert, Margaret Mahony, Alison Miller, Leanne Mumford, Jan O’Loughlin and Tom Staudt.

Next Gadigal Ginko in Sydney: 2pm, 16th April, 2024

The next Gadigal Ginko in Sydney – number 5 – has been organised to mark International Haiku Poetry Day on 17th April. It will take place on the afternoon of Tuesday 16th April, from 2pm, in The Domain, Sydney. Contemporary haiku poets of all levels of experience are invited to join the gathering. Next Gadigal Ginko – February 2024

Convenor Leanne Mumford invites Sydney haiku poets of all levels of experience to participate in the next Gadigal Ginko from 10am on Saturday 3rd February 2024 in Centennial Park. If you’d like to join in this summer ginko, please register by 12pm Thursday 1st February to receive details of the exact meeting point and alternative arrangements in case of unsuitable weather.

Gadigal Ginko 27th September 2023

The third Gadigal Ginko took place on an overcast, humid Wednesday morning. Eight poets gathered outside the Chau Chak Wing Museum on the Camperdown campus of the University of Sydney. For some it was a return to familiar territory. Others were visiting for the first time. We dispersed in various directions to explore inside the museum, adjacent Victoria Park, and the University’s buildings and gardens. By the time we reconvened to share some draft poems the sun was shining.
