Who would’ve thought that two hours would be enough time in which to enjoy a presentation of Moon Forest Armada Tanka Group’, as well as a talk on How-a-Poet-Works and have time in which to workshop new tanka. Limestone Tanka Poets did all three in our March meeting and what was achieved was pleasing if the contentment on everyone’s faces at the end were anything to go on

Report on Bowerbird Tanka Workshop #8 2011
On Sunday 19th February seventeen eager participants flocked to the central coast haven of Pearl Beach for the 8th Bowerbird Tanka Workshop. Beverley George, convenor of the group, graciously opened her bower to us all once more as a relaxing and inspiring venue for the day.

Limestone Tanka poets: report on 30 October meeting
There has to be good reason when the temperature is 24 degrees in Canberra to stay indoors, and Gerry Jacobson’s How-a-Poet-Works session was more than enough motivation for Limestone Tanka Poets to gather at the Writer’s Center, Sunday 30th October for our monthly meeting.

In Conversation with Two Poets, Mariko Kitakubo and Beverley George
— a special Limestone Tanka Poets event, 13th August 2011.
It was easy to understand why fifty paying guests followed the trail of balloons leading to The Gods @ Hedley Bull café at the Australian National University last Saturday at noon, 13th August, once Mariko Kitakubo rang temple bells and commenced her reading of her selected tanka in Japanese from ‘Footsteps of Basho Tour’ in collaboration with Beverley George, who read English translations by Amelia Fielden.

Limestone Tanka Poets, 22nd May, 2011 meeting
The fact that there was little business to discuss other than the positive advantages of keeping an Awards and Publication book for Limestone Tanka Poets next meeting onwards (contents to be published in ACT Writers etc. as another means of ‘outing’ tanka in Canberra), June Foster, Kate King, John Van De Graaff, Gerry Jacobson, Michael Thorley and I, did not mind at all. We were about to embark on a Japanese way of responding to tanka in a workshop by Amelia Fielden, who assured of a method that was both gentle and informative.

The Tanka Huddle critique group has published a chapbook of selected poems, simply entitled Tanka Huddle.
