On Wednesday 21st August, a beautifully warm and sunny day, seven haiku poets, friends and family members, met at the Sydney Cherry Blossom Festival in Auburn to take part in a reading and ginko led by Vanessa Proctor. The theme of the day was spontaneity as our expected location was not available. With some quick thinking, we found a bench and some chairs beside the billabong in the shade of a fig tree.

Ginko Haiku Walk – Sydney Royal Botanic Garden, 31st August
Red Room Poetry, in partnership with Sydney’s Royal Botanic Garden, is offering a Ginko Walk opportunity next Saturday 31st August 2024 as part of ‘Poetry Month’. There is a cost of $50. On Thursday 22nd August, a mild and rather blustery day, four haiku poets gathered at the Auburn Botanic Gardens to represent the AHS at the 2019 Sydney Cherry Blossom Festival. Reading haiku were Vanessa Proctor, Carol Reynolds, Margaret Ruckert and Willem Tibben.

AHS Haiku Readings and Ginko at the Sydney Cherry Blossom Festival, 22nd August
A group of poets, led by Vanessa Proctor, AHS President, will be reading haiku at the Sydney Cherry Blossom Festival at the Auburn Botanic Gardens on Thursday 22nd August at 11am. The reading will take place in the rain forest area and will be followed by a ginko and the opportunity to write haiku. All are welcome to attend this event which is free for seniors, children and those who live in the Cumberland Council region. A haiku event will take place at the Sydney Cherry Blossom Festival, Auburn on Thursday 23rd August, 10:00 – 11:00am. The event will include a haiku reading by a group of haiku poets and a ginko led by AHS President, Vanessa Proctor.
