The meeting of Bindii on 3 August was a Renku workshop organized by Lee Bentley.
Five members attended the meeting. Lee outlined the principles of renku and the history of renga/renku. This was followed by a more detailed look at how the method of link and shift is used to build a renku.
The group then read a kasen renku The Click of Mahjong Tiles together with the analysis of the links used to construct the renku.
Led by Lee Bentley, the group then began work on their own Junicho renku.
The meeting finished at 2 pm. Lee Bentley is considering organizing an extra meeting for those interested in renku or rengay. Interested members will be advised.

The Red Dragonflies met on Saturday 13th July at Dawn Bruce’s home in St Leonards. Vanessa Proctor led members Dawn Bruce and Cynthia Rowe. Lesley Walter, Barbara Fisher and Beverley George were unable, regrettably, to attend and sent their apologies.
It was a productive afternoon and the exercises were challenging. We workshopped haiku about puzzles, moments of grace we had experienced, various aspects of loss and, as the day marked the 69th birthday of Erno Rubik, even cubist cats! It was an enjoyable and, as always, convivial meeting.

Lake Ainsworth, Lennox Head, NSW
Date: Thursday 9 May 2013
After so many ginko full of rain, sun beamed on the Autumn gathering of the Cloudcatchers on 9 May – until the last half hour.
Lake Ainsworth at Lennox Head, a fresh water lake a stone’s throw from the ocean, glistened through the paperbark and banksia. A dozen species of birdlife animated the scene, and a few swimmers braved the cold dark tea-tree-stained waters, crossing wakes with those of cruising teal. After sharing our first drafts of haiku around a large picnic table we moved on to the Lennox Hotel for lunch together. The usual post-ginko email Round Robin is currently under way. The Winter ginko is scheduled for Thursday 8 August. Enquiries to Quendryth Young: quendrythyoung@bigpond.com
