Prior Announcement: AHS Winter Solstice Kukai 2025

The Australian Haiku Society will hold a Haiga Kukai on 21 June 2025 to mark the Winter Solstice. Poets from Australia and internationally are invited to participate.

Wanda Amos has generously provided a photographic image, which will be displayed on the AHS website starting on 21 June. The competition will be open for eight days, allowing haiku poets in Australia and abroad to contribute their haiku. The competition will close at 1 am on 29 June ACST (Australian Central Standard Time).

Please enter your haiku well before the opportunity finishes to avoid missing out. Once the comments are automatically closed, they cannot be reopened for late entries.

For this competition, poets will be invited to submit one previously unpublished haiku inspired by the image. Wanda will then select the winning haiku, which will be displayed on the AHS website.

Prior Announcement: AHS Spring Haiga Kukai 2024

The Australian Haiku Society will hold a Haiga Kukai on 22nd September to mark the Spring Equinox, which occurs this year in Australia. Poets from Australia and internationally are invited to participate.

Melbourne artist, Olivia Ark, has generously provided two images (Seasonal and Non-seasonal), which will be displayed on the AHS website starting on 22nd September. The competition will be open for eight days, to allow haiku poets in Australia and abroad to contribute their haiku.

Prior Announcement: AHS Summer Haiga Kukai 2023

The Australian Haiku Society will hold a Haiga Kukai for the Summer Equinox occurring this year in Australia on 22nd  December. Once again, Ron C. Moss has generously provided two images (Seasonal and Non-seasonal), which will be displayed on the AHS website from 22nd December to midnight on 29th December AEST. For each competition, poets will be invited to submit one previously unpublished haiku inspired by the image. Ron will then select the winning haiku, which will be displayed on the AHS website.

Marking the Moment – workshop

Capture and record a moment from nature through haiku and mark making to create a visual expression of a sensory experience. Join poet Lyn Reeves and local artist Desiree Fitzgibbon for walking and observation in the stunning environment of Okines Beach.
