White Pebbles Haiku Group – Spring 2019
For our Spring Meeting at the Gosford/Edogawa Commemorative Gardens and Regional Gallery at East Gosford we were greeted by sunny skies and an occasional cool wind. The gardens were adorned with colourful azaleas and delicate fronds of mauve wisteria contrasting with the manicured green bushes that form an integral part of this tranquil area.

Spring Equinox Haiku String
Spring is definitely making its way back into the garden and into the activities of a whole host of insects, animals and birds. The Spring Equinox falls on September 23rd in the Southern Hemisphere this year and to celebrate, the Australian Haiku Society will host a Haiku String on and around that date. Everyone is invited to participate and we look forward to your offerings. A submission form will be made available on the website at the time of the equinox. More information will be posted to the website soon including the announcement of a theme.

HAIKU @ THE OAKS, CANBERRA
Tuesday 13 August 2019
Instead of huddling around a heater inside The Oaks marquee, we found ourselves sitting outside beneath a sunny blue sky. How unexpected! The recent bleak weather with its wind, sleet and local snow, had at last decided it was almost spring. Sunshine lit up the pink blossoms on two weeping apricots near the entrance, magpies gave full voice to the day, and one by one we even shed our coats. Ideal conditions for a stimulating afternoon!
