Sandra Simpson has had her commentary on a fascinating haiku by Hansha Teki selected as winner of The Haiku Foundation’s weekly re:Virals feature and has in turn selected a haiku by Lorin Ford for this coming week’s consideration.

Submission Invitation for Windfall # 6

Windfall: Australian Haiku is a small annual print publication which seeks to publish fine examples of contemporary Australian haiku. Submissions are welcome throughout July each year.

An anthology of Australian haiku, Windfall is edited by Beverley George and published annually by Peter Macrow’s Blue Giraffe Press. Please send up to six haiku on themes relevant to Australia to Beverley George at beverleygeorge@idx.com.au with the word “Windfall” in the subject line or by mail to PO Box 37 Pearl Beach 2256. Prior Notification of AHS Winter Solstice Haiku String on ‘Place’.

The Australian Haiku Society will be holding a Haiku String during the day of the Southern Hemisphere Winter Solstice, which occurs in Sydney NSW on Wednesday, 21 June 2017 at 2:24 pm AEST. We will keep the string open for contributions until Friday, 23 June at 2.24 pm AEST to accommodate international poets who may wish to take part. Nathan Sidney and Garry Eaton both have interesting and highly recommended commentaries on a haiku by Michelle Tennison on this week’s re:Virals 88 hosted by The Haiku Foundation.  As this week’s winner Garry Eaton selected one of Lorin Ford’s haiku for reflection and comment in next week’s upcoming re:Virals.
