Bombora October Meeting

Our October meeting was a bit special.  Melody, Suzie, Yvonne, Noela, Dawn and Gayle were all able to attend along with Bernie and Peter, and we gathered at the Osprey House Environmental Centre, right alongside the North Pine River.  As we tucked into a delicious morning tea provided by Bernie we heard the whistling of the ospreys along with the calls of various other water birds.  The boardwalks beckoned, and while sitting in a viewing spot we were privileged to be entertained by two juvenile ospreys practising their diving from the nearby mangroves.

Gayle chose the venue as a place to inspire us and challenge our haiku abilities.  We were also asked to think of subjects for future months.

November’s meeting will be the last for the year when we celebrate the year’s poetry efforts with an early Christmas lunch!

Bombora Gathering, July 2021

Our small Bombora group was very lucky to get together the last week in July, just beating another COVID lockdown by a few days.

Once again our venue was indoors; a meeting in the park had been suggested, but a spate of chilly Brisbane weather put paid to that idea – maybe in September.  So Dawn, Yvonne, Melody, Suzie and Noela all met in Gayle’s lounge again, with Gayle’s husband Peter providing welcome coffees. Gayle has had us on our toes with some very different monthly challenges –

Bombora Summer Meeting

Our small BOMBORA group had a most enjoyable Christmas luncheon at a local tavern in mid December.  Discussion varied from our haiku learning journey to how great it was to be able to actually all go out to lunch together after all the difficulties of 2020.  Thankfully we are all fit and well.

We then had our first meeting of the year late last month in air conditioned comfort at Gayle’s house, deciding against a meeting in the park in hot, humid Brisbane weather. Present were Gayle, Dawn, Yvonne, Melody and Suzie, and we welcomed new member Geoff.
