Cloudcatchers Ginko No. 69

It was a perfect autumn day for the Cloudcatchers’ sixty-ninth ginko. The venue was Pop Denison Park, recently revamped, at Shaw’s Bay, Ballina. The new amenities include numerous structures for kiddies’ exploration, and there were many little ones there, with their adults, enjoying the thrill of adventure, while their minders revelled in the warmth of autumn sun. Not a cloud in the sky, as we explored pathways through the littoral forest.

Autumn Ginko Paperbark (WA)

We had a bit of a hiccough to start the autumn ginko at Elizabeth quay in the Boorloo (Perth CBD) on the banks of the Derbal Yirrigan (Swan River), as the café we intended to meet in was not open until 11.30am, but our meeting time was 10am. Fortunately, Barry Sanbrook had scouted around and found a second café. Our wonky start did not blight our meeting, as we had ten attendees, including two new members, who found their way to us after a workshop they had been intending to attend was cancelled. We had one of the best meetings in terms of attendance and are thrilled to welcome newcomers.

Haiku @ The Oaks

A monthly lunch @ The Oaks is one of those bright spots in our calendars. Once a month we bond in friendship and haiku, wondering where our agenda-less meeting might lead us. On Thursday, five of us greeted around the table—Kathy Kituai, Hazel Hall, Gregory Piko, Marietta McGregor, and Jan Dobb. We missed Glenys Ferguson, who is out of town.
