A small group gathered in historic Camperdown Cemetery in Newtown, Sydney, on Saturday 13th July: Jane Gibian, Vanessa Proctor, Carol Reynolds, Susan Grant, Zina Ioannou and Leanne Mumford. Surrounded by Camperdown Memorial Rest Park, its tall trees and remnant native grass help make the cemetery a welcome place for quiet recreation in the inner city.

Report on the Bindii Meeting June 29 2024
Julia Wakefield, Jake Dennis, Steve Wigg, Stella Damarjati, Maureen Sexton, Subha Goonaratne and Lynette Arden met on Saturday June 29 at 3pm, using Google Meet. Apologies were received from Ewan Rourke and Maeve Archibald.
We workshopped our haiku, some of which addressed the the topic for this meeting, which was ‘creepy crawlies’. We also commented on some of the winning and shortlisted entries for the Touchstone Awards,

President’s Message
Haiku as a practice thrives on solitude. Time alone – going on a ginkō or doing a mundane task such as peeling vegetables, washing dishes or pulling weeds – allows us to pay attention to bodily sensations and our mind’s wanderings. Such solitary experiences often provide substance for our poems.
