Haiku Performance and Ginko at the Sydney Cherry Blossom Festival – Thursday 23rd August

A haiku event will take place at the Sydney Cherry Blossom Festival, Auburn on Thursday 23rd August, 10:00 – 11:00am. The event will include a haiku reading by a group of haiku poets and a ginko led by AHS President, Vanessa Proctor.

Persimmon

This book is a delight, square in shape and persimmon-coloured, it is beautifully produced with deep green flyleaf covers and plenty of space around the text giving the haiku the room it deserves. The artwork of persimmons on the front cover by Eiko Mori and Richard Steiner’s artwork on the back is appealing and gives the reader the impression that a great deal of thought has gone into this book’s creation. Red Dragonflies’ Winter Meeting, 2018

The winter meeting of the Red Dragonflies was held on Saturday 2nd June, 11.30am-2.30pm at Dawn Bruce’s home in St Leonards. Vanessa Proctor led members Dawn Bruce, Barbara Fisher, Beverley George and Cynthia Rowe in a series of stimulating exercises. Willem Tibben, our sixth member, was unable to attend. Launch of Only in Silence and Eucalypt 24

On Saturday, 12th May 2018, a large number of poets and other interested people retreated from the congestion of Saturday morning traffic to the quiet upstairs room at the Beecroft Children’s Bookshop.  They were gathered to celebrate the launch of Beverley George’s latest book Only in Silence and also the #24 edition of Eucalypt: A Tanka Journal, editor Julie Thorndyke.
