AHS Winter Solstice Haiga Kukai

A winter walk in Hobart is always unpredictable because of the uncertainty of the weather. In the week leading up to our scheduled ginko we experienced days of heavy rain but we had the good fortune of a clear day and the use of an air b&b at Fern Tree, Mount Wellington for our get-together. The easing of restrictions meant that we could gather as a small group so we decided to make a day of it, sharing lunch, haiku, ginko and companionship. On Saturday June 27 we held another Zoom meeting. Four of us attended: Julia Wakefield, Steve Wigg, Stella Damarjati and Lynette Arden, with apologies from Dawn Colsey and Maeve Archibald.
We had arranged at the previous meeting to try putting together a sequence, using the theme of ‘sound’. Each member was required to bring along between three and five haiku that they had written on this theme. Continue reading “Bindii Report on Zoom Meeting in June”
On the second Saturday of June (our scheduled meeting date) we caught up by email for the third time since Lockdown. Computerised catch-ups in April and May had worked well for us; kept us in touch and writing. Our regular Winter Meeting began with eight of our members writing to 6 prompts.
Illawong Haiku Group held their Winter meeting on Tuesday, 16th June. With the ever changing rules relating to Covid 19 we gladly accepted the invitation from Margaret Mahony to hold our meeting at her home. Six ladies attended.
Internet exercises were held during the ‘lockdown’ period which included a commentary on a selected haiku, a haiku string with the very apt theme of Covid followed by haibun. Instructive information about each form accompanied the exercises. We attempted haiga but decided this would be easier face to face.
Our meeting began with a Q&A session relating to our on line exercises and everyone agreed it worked so well we will continue to extend our learning in this way between meetings.
